Anand, a handsome person, is bewitched by her beauty. This book proved me wrong completely.
She finds out that she has been affected by Leukoderma or Vitiligo. I understand where she comes from, to have a blemished skin can be a curse. Anand, just like the story of Cinderella and gets a life dream come true. Though he belongs to a very rich family, he convinces his mother, who reluctantly agrees, and gets married to Anupama.

As I read the further story, I grow immense liking for Anupama and my hatred rose for Anand as well. If we talk about the basic story line, actually it is a thought provoking novella, in which the protagonist was a girl, named Anupama. She is very beautiful, intelligent and talented.
Anand does not respond to her letters. She finds fairy tale love and gets married, only to find her dreams shattered to pieces, when she discovers that she has leukoderma. Dolly gets married, and moves over mahashwweta Australialeaving Anu with the responsibility of looking after her home, and without the need for paying rent. Coming to term with the climax of life, and accepting oneself form a major part of the story, along with moving on from a treacherous past.
I loved the book and fell in love with writings of Sudha Murthy. He is the son of a Sanskrit teacher so his love for the language increases his familiarity with Anu.
People who pass comments forget that, if given a choice, everyone would have opted for a flawless beautiful face! Undoubtedly, Sudha Murty has become one of my favorite authors.
She was the recipient of the R. Non- fictional stories author had taken from his own life. A nice way to let people know about leukoderma and the social stigma that comes with it.
And those who isolate people with skin problems, and judge solely on physical appearances, well It was not just a retelling of Mahabharata but more than that it was a genuine effort to throw the light on the other part where grass was not green but worth watching.
An eye-opener for those who believe that leucoderma is a stigma. Though many of them might not be fond of her, her writing is just over-whelming.
sudja Without being preachy, author weaved the life lessons so amazingly into his debut novel. She does not want to go back to the village and face prejudice or get into the circle of family at all.
