Silly summer fluff, with a generous helping of sex. This book is all about the glass ceiling. Bushbell of them who idolise the four tough women in the series. How do high-powered careers affect a woman’s relationship with her husband and family?
Apart from that, I hate chapters that are 25 pages long. On the plus side of things, Bushnell is talented and knows how to write about the powerful, successful women in the New York district. These women seem to think that being a strong woman is about candsce as big of a jerk as you can to men, which could Wonderful writing but awful book. Yeah, her husband was a wimp, but spoiler alert!

I would only recommend this to Candace Bushnell fans and huge chick lit fans. Sex and the Citypublished inwas the basis for the HBO hit series and two subsequent blockbuster movies. The book is worthy of reading, but you’ll find yourself exhaugsted from the jump just trying junle keep the characters from molding into one another.

Nov 26, A. I can’t remember which character asks it because despite the author’s best attempts to persuade us otherwise, I really can’t distinguish between the three main protagonists of the novel.
I suppose that after watching SATC for several years- you naturally develop relationships with the characters so even though they are superficial- you still care about them. The problem was that is was always obscured by some problem. The book follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game. Tina Brown used to write a terrific column in the Washington Postand one of the things she was always mentioning was how there was a group of powerful women who were meeting and lunching at Michael’s restaurant.
Just as you’re finally getting into one character, she cuts that one off until juungle next chapter and picks up where she left junglle with another character. Unlike the Sex and the City girls who made their creator rich, Bushnell’s newest New York heroines have matured, rethought their values and decided that these boil down to career success, measured in multiple zeros.
While all three women do end the book nominally attached, this is relatively unimportant; the male characters are barely developed, and the message is clear that these women have found temporary happiness in professional self-realisation, not in relationships. How they managed to turn one of her sad books into a multi-million dollar franchise is beyond me. They had different careers and families, but they all had the same basic voice. Often we would be shown the outcome of an event and then immediately be told about the things that lead up to that outcome as if the character was thinking back on it.
