So when Mencheres comes across 5 ghouls looking for a fight to the death, he acts like he has no real power and was going to let them kill him. This book is driven more by the relationship and character development which didn’t bother me.

It is refreshing to see a strong female character for a change. I like seeing Mencheres laugh and tease and enjoy himself.

I have to admit, I was never really interested in Mencheres before. Kira saved the story for me.

We definitely get to see a different side to Master Vampire Mencheres!! Kira was everything a heroine should be and then some. Ultimately a bit of a downer since Mancheres comes across less darkneess than he could, Kira is only an average lead, and the story is focused mainly on their somewhat unrealistic romance, it’s definitely not the best offering of the series offshoots. With her appearance, she unwittingly saves a master vampire, Mencheres, who in turn saves her from the ghouls by healing her with his blood.

I think Frost focused more on Kira’s point of view in the story, sometimes I wanted more of Mencheres’s thoughts and I wanted more of his background story. Would you still have the will to live? But his attempts to mesmorize Kira fail It’s not as “sexy” as the other ones, but it was cute.

After all, Mencheres is such a powerful vampire and his story darknesx to be great. Kira, a private investigator, ends up being unexpectedly thrown into Mencheres world.

Jeaniene lives in Florida with her husband Matthew, who long ago accepted that she rarely cooks and always sleeps in on the weekends. But it was nice to see Bones and Cat interact with Kira.

Kira was honest about her feelings and she was very protective of Mencheres. The tension between these two characters simply sizzles off the pages. It’s easier to relate, easier to understand. Mencheres has an ancient enemy who feels that he is entitled to Mencheres’ powers.
