But at the end of the day, I think Rechy himself describes my feelings for this book in his last paragraphs: A lot of writers have written about courting hustlers, not from the intimate point of rechyy of hustlers — who, stereotypically they often insist, must be dumb, and so beyond desiring them, they could feel superior — but not if the hustler turned out to o even smarter.
I wrote from the point of view of the hustler. We read many Beat writers in college but missed this book, probably because when I went to school at a Catholic university Gay themes were not something they wanted to discuss.
